So, I didn't quite get the results I was hoping/believed I could get.

Big deal - not.

Came home on the morning on Thursday 19th August feeling a little down, and slightly apprehensive as to what was happening to my life at that time.

Dad was a huge help, we just got in, he made me a brew and basically got me motivated to find a clearing university place. I rang quite a few unis, and was stuck in some horrendous queues - I think the longest queue was "You are ... ninety third ... in the queue". OK, thanks automated voice, any chance of bumping me up there?!

The phone died twice, ran out of battery - and the call got dropped twice - which meant I had to start again at the back of the queues. Luckily we have 3 phones in the house so we just rotated them all to make sure the disaster didn't happen again.

I asked for a place at Royal Holloway, which is part of the University of London, however they rang me back to say sorry, your grades aren't quite good enough.

I also rang Queen Mary's which is also part of UOL, which offered me a place. Plymouth also offered me a place without hesistation however told me that the offer would expire at 10am the following day. Also Keele got a phone call off me, however they couldn't say whether they would have a place, and would send me a letter to say if they had or didn't (which to this day I still haven't received - idiots).

Bangor had previously sent me a letter to say that I should still give them a ring if I wanted a clearing place there, as they may be able to offer me one, I rang and they did offer me one. So all in all I think it was a successful day and a successful clearing operation.

I had received 3 offers, and one maybe from Keele. Now it was just time to choose the university that I was going to spend the next 3/4 years of my life at.

Bangor was quickly dropped to the bottom of the list as was Keele, Bangor because I didn't feel it would challenge me enough and there wouldn't be enough students to push me along in order to make me have a goal to be the best. Keele didn't have a chance as they couldn't give me a definitive answer, so it was down to Queen Mary's and Plymouth.

I realised that Queen Mary's was deemed by my mum to be in an 'unsafe' area, as it was next to Tower Hamlets, and also it was in the city, however plymouth was far away and didn't have many job prospects for a willing Computer Scientist.

By this point it was 1730 and I was shattered from all the concentrating and phone calls that had taken place during the day so I fell asleep on the sofa for 30 minutes just before tea.

I strongly believe that this was the best thing that could have happened to me.

My sub-concious had 30 strong minutes to calculate, ponder, work out and decide which university was the best for me, so one I woke up, I had my choice and that was the University of Plymouth.

So I firmed it after a small discussion with my parents, and then got onto applying for some accommodation.

This wasn't as smooth as the clearing process as the system wouldn't allow me to login to their online system, I had to wait until 2pm the nice person on the phone informed me. I tried again at 3pm and still couldn't get on, this time I was put through to the accommodation department and was informed that I had to wait until the morning for the system to update.

Friday morning, I logged on and set up my accommodation requirements - I picked En-suite as my primary choice and then standard as my second - I thought keeping my options wide open would allow them to just stick me in any available slot.

Which they did on Monday afternoon, I received an email to ask me to accept the accommodation place and review the contract!

I will be living at: St Thomas Court, 20 Gaskin Street, Plymouth, PL4 9AP.

Moving in on the 11th of September (likely).

TO PLYMOUTH :D
