Hey! I'm Jake, however I am better known around the Internet as Florx. That's the alias I try and use at every opportunity.

I am currently 18 years old and have just finished studying for me A2s at Winstanley College, Billinge, near Wigan. I'm looking to be going to the University of Sheffield in September, to read Computer Science.

I currently know a few programming/scripting/markup languages, mainly ones used on the web: PHP, HTML, CSS, Javascript and XML. I was forced as part of my college work to learn Visual Basic 6, then Visual Basic.NET. Over the summer I hope to try my hand at a bit of Java to prepare me for uni.

This blog you are currently looking at is powered by a MySQL database, with PHP interacting with it. I use a mixture of most of the web languages I mentioned above to make it work, and I am currently running on my own VPS from Hostlatch.net, which is brilliant. It's sat in a datacenter in Orlando, Florida. Running on 768MB of RAM and 60GB hard drive space.
